Emerging Geographers Council
The Student Councillors of the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) represent the voices, interests, and experiences of geography students across Canada. They help strengthen student engagement within the CAG by encouraging participation in conferences, networking opportunities, professional development, and academic initiatives.
Student Councillors work closely with the CAG Board, regional divisions, and student members to promote collaboration, leadership, and community-building within the discipline of geography. They also help connect undergraduate and graduate students with resources, mentorship opportunities, grants, and events that support academic and career growth.
Through advocacy and student-focused initiatives, the Student Councillors contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for emerging geographers across Canada.

Staff
The Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) is supported by a dedicated team of staff who manage the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure the smooth delivery of programs, services, and initiatives. Working closely with the Board of Directors, committees, and members, the staff play a vital role in advancing the Association’s mission to promote geography across Canada.
From coordinating national conferences and events to supporting membership services, communications, and administrative functions, the CAG staff are committed to providing efficient, responsive, and high-quality support to the geographic community. Their work helps foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development opportunities for geographers at all stages of their careers.
The team also ensures that the Association remains accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving needs of its members, while upholding the values of excellence, integrity, and service.

Guiding the direction of the CAG
The Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) provides strategic leadership, governance, and oversight for the organization. Comprised of elected officers and representatives from across Canada, the Board reflects the diversity of the geographic community, including scholars, educators, students, and professionals working in public, private, and non-profit sectors.
The Board is responsible for guiding the Association’s mission to advance the study and application of geography, promote research and education, and support a national network of geographers. Through collaboration with committees, regional divisions, and members, the Board ensures that the CAG remains responsive to emerging social, environmental, and scientific challenges.
Key responsibilities of the Board include setting organizational priorities, supporting conferences and initiatives, recognizing excellence in geography, and fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within the discipline
