Jesse Sutton

CAG Anglophone Student Councillor (2023 - 2025)
Ph.D. Candidate, University of Western Ontario

Meet Jesse, CAG’s Anglophone Student Councillor. As a current Ph.D. candidate, his motivation for pursuing a career in geography is the understanding that location matters and geography helps us understand the spatial particularities, variations, and differences in various phenomena from the physical to human aspects of geography. A significant moment that had a lasting impact on his research was when he conducted a scoping review that provided him with the opportunity to become an expert on his topic and gave him a depth of knowledge and novel perspective that he would not have gotten from simple and less rigorous literature reviews.

Jesse recommends reading the Canadian Geographies, Journal of Economic Geography, Economic Geography, Regional Studies, and Cambridge Journal of Regions, Society, and Economy to stay up to date on the latest trends and research in economic geography.
