Academics, professionals, practitioners and knowledge holders with a geography-related focus are invited to submit abstracts or special session proposals.  CAG 2025 provides various ways to contribute, and we ask that you carefully consider the best form of contribution to the event.  The Association allows for one oral presentation per author.  Additional contributions can be made through the proposal of a poster, participation on a panel, or by proposing a special session.

Oral and Poster Presentations

All presenters, whether submitting for an oral presentation or poster, must submit an abstract with a limit of 1800 characters (English) or 2250 characters (French) to our web portal.

  Abstract requirements:

  • Title

  • Authors: name, affiliation, e-mail address

  • Maximum of five keywords

  • A concise description of purpose, knowledge foundation, methods used, and conclusions

Abstracts will be reviewed by the local organizing committee for adherence to submission guidelines and relevance.  We will accommodate as many oral and poster presentations as possible, however, please submit as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Abstracts can be submitted at: https://forms.gle/NsvzPyFMxaTbsgFr6

Abstracts will be presented as submitted. Authors are responsible for spelling, grammatical and typographical errors. Abstracts will be available before and during the conference on the conference website; titles will be printed in the conference program (but only if presenting authors register for the conference by April 4).

Oral presentations should be planned for 20 minutes including discussion and questions. To ensure that all presenters have an equal opportunity to speak, time limits will be strictly observed. A computer, data projector and Internet access will be available in all session rooms, and presenters are asked to bring their files on a data stick to be uploaded before each session. Any other equipment is the responsibility of the presenter. Posters should be planned for a maximum space of 1.2 x 1.2 m (4’ x 4’).  Adhesive material will be provided.

CAG 2025: General Program Structure

The general structure of the program is consistent with past annual meetings of the CAG. The proposed program can be found online and will be updated periodically in the months ahead.

Special Sessions

Contributors can propose a special session that can take a number of forms including but not limited to a panel, workshop, themed session, presentation of a movie or other work(s) of art with related discussion.  Be creative and submit your idea.

We aim for an inclusive event and encourage anyone to submit a special session proposal. This is an excellent opportunity for students, Indigenous Knowledge holders, community activists, postdocs, affiliated researchers, CAG Study Group members, and faculty to engage others at the CAG on important themes. Work with colleagues or collaborators to submit a session idea.

Use the Special Session Submission Form at https://forms.gle/HFr5gUT77YDegsrv9 and include a session title, format (panel, themed session etc.).  Please provide a brief description of your session including background, rationale, expected outcomes and an indication of the potential presenters or types of presenters.  You do not need to submit confirmed speakers at the proposal stage, but include any who have expressed interest.  All sessions are 90 minutes long.

When session proposals are approved and announced March 31, you are welcome to promote your session among colleagues and other interested participants on CAG-List and elsewhere. Session organizers will be responsible to ask potential participants or contributors to submit their abstracts to our web form, indicating which special session they are intended for.  Special Session organizers should also remind authors to register on time for the conference, which is required to confirm abstract acceptance. See above for relevant dates and deadlines for registration.

If you anticipate more than one session of 90 minutes, we will do our best to accommodate this:  contact us in advance at CAG2025@carleton.ca

Once you have notified your Session participants of their ‘acceptance,’ encourage them to submit their abstract and register as soon as possible, indicating the session they are part of.  See above for relevant dates and deadlines for registration.

Start making travel plans and working on your contribution!
